Introduction

This is the first song I wrote after the trip and the first song I will be putting up. This song will be one of the many songs I will be posting over the course of the next few weeks under the pseudonym, Collapsed in California. This first song is called Statue of Status. In its aftermath, we were fed up with the toxic behavior of one of our friends. One who expected too much from the people around her. Expectations that in her mind, defined who we are and if not, who we should be. How we should act. How we should speak. How we should look at who we are, crumple it up and throw it away, and redesign ourselves how she see’s fit. There is a status of each of us that is upheld in the organization of her mind. It has become apparent of how tired we grew. This song is dedicated to her.

Lyrics

Verse 1 Brave minds think alike But brave only when in numbers Strayed from your path And you’ll always wonder

Countless misdirections Miscommunications Designed for utter failure And you’ll always wonder

Chorus And I know now, what I know Believe that, believe you And your Fairytale ending of us saying sorry Berate us, it’s okay Critique you, it’s wrong then Leave it up to you to decide what’s best for us

Verse 2 Carved a statue of status Of everyone’s practice Demanding and disrespected And you’ll always wonder

And any bit of crack feels Magnified by your views Upset with all your rules And we’ll leave you here to wonder

Chorus And I know now, what I know Believe that, believe you And your fairytale ending of us saying sorry Berate us, it’s okay Critique you, it’s wrong then Leave it up to you to decide what’s best for us Control the bits and pieces that make us up

Bridge And I present to you the pieces of documentation That you so resoundedly wanted to hear Instead of just reaching a fair friendly hand Looked for explanations for the faces we wear

Your ever so expectations of everyone Showered dirt and grime into our heads The pocket of space you did not give Got us all feeling dread

And when I’m sitting here Wondering what you’ll use to villainize us For something we thought wasn’t cruel But wait, we villainized you?
